Albaloo Khoshk – Dried Sour Cherries from the Airfryer

Albaloo Khoshk – Dried Sour Cherries from the Airfryer

“Albaloo Khoshk – dried sour cherries from the airfryer.” Just reading this takes me back to hot Persian summer days, sitting under the shade of our sour cherry trees in the garden, with red fingers, red lips, and a big bowl of freshly picked cherries on my lap. Back then, we spread the cherries out on large cloths in the sun to make this beloved Persian snack. Today, I make them easily in my airfryer and bring a little piece of home into my small German kitchen. I love how in Iran, the cherries are sold dried with their stones still inside. You just pop one in your mouth and suck on it until only the little stone is left. This simple snack connects generations and always brings back warm memories. Kotlet – Persian Meat and Potato Patties

Kotlet – Persian Meat and Potato Patties

Let me introduce you to one of the most loved comfort foods from Persian kitchens: Kotlet – Persian Meat and Potato Patties, or as some say, Kotelett. These are delicious, golden-brown patties made from a simple but flavorful mix of ground meat, potatoes, onions, eggs, and spices. They’re wonderfully aromatic, with a perfect contrast in texture – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Kotlets are quick to make and taste just as good cold as they do warm, which makes them perfect for everything from quick dinners to picnics or even lunchboxes. In our family, we love to enjoy them in different ways. Sometimes we serve them as a main dish, other times as a side to Salad-e Olivieh – a creamy Persian chicken and potato salad. But my absolute favorite? Wrapped in soft Lavash bread or tucked into a crusty baguette with a few simple toppings: fresh herbs, crunchy onions or scallions, juicy tomatoes, salty pickles, and a spoonful of creamy yogurt. It’s a flavor-packed sandwich that brings back so many childhood …

Sosis Bandari - Persian Style Currywurst

Sosis Bandari – Persian Style Currywurst

Sosis Bandari is a Persian fast food favorite that everyone loves—young and old! It’s basically a Persian-style curry sausage, often found in snack bars, but trust me, homemade is where the magic happens. The trick to great Sosis Bandari – Persian Style Currywurst? It needs to be spicy! Hot Chilli Frankfurter beef sausage is perfect for this since it’s already got some kick. If you can’t find it, Turkish sucuk works too. The sauce? Oh, it’s creamy, thick, and bursting with flavor, thanks to tomato paste, turmeric, and paprika. Some folks add diced potatoes, but the classic version skips them. Best part? It’s cheap, easy, and super quick to whip up! watch my preparation video on Instagram

Omelette Godje Faranghi – Persian Omelet املت گوجه فرنگی

Omelette Godje Faranghi – Persian Omelet املت گوجه فرنگی

Today I am serving a savory breakfast – a classic, trendy Persian dish called Omelette Godje Faranghi – Persian Omelet املت گوجه فرنگی. In Persia, omelet means a dish with eggs, but it’s quite different from the omelets you may know from Germany, France, or Italy. To prepare persian omelet we use scrambled eggs with fried tomatoes, tomato paste, and spices. We serve it with hot Persian tea, fresh herbs, sir torshi (pickled garlic), fresh traditional Nan-e Lavash, Nan-e Barbari, Nan-e Taftoon, or Nan-e Sangak. Omelet is also often enjoyed with simple steamed rice. So, roll up your sleeves, switch on the stove, and heat the pan to make a delicious breakfast.
