BAKED FETA WITH FIGS AND CARAMELIZED WALNUTS

Baked Feta is such a versatile dish—it’s great for pretty much any occasion! Whether you’re looking for a classy starter for a festive dinner, a romantic meal for two, a fun get-together with friends, a highlight for a brunch spread, or just a quick comfort dish for a chill evening at home, this recipe totally hits the mark.

You can pair it with a fresh baguette, a colorful salad (like my autumn salad with apple, feta, and caramelized pistachios), or even throw it into a bigger menu. Give it a try and enjoy the easy mix of simplicity and sophistication. It feels fancy but is super easy to whip up!

A FEW FACTS ABOUT FIGS

  • Warm and Moist Properties: In traditional Persian medicine (Teb-e Sonati), fresh figs are considered to have warm and moist properties. They are believed to provide warmth and energy to the body.
  • How to Pick the Perfect Fig: To determine if a fig is ripe, gently press it. If it gives slightly without being mushy, it’s ready to enjoy.
  • Season: Figs are in season from late summer to fall, making them exceptionally fresh and flavorful during this time. However, you can still find them in Turkish grocery stores.
  • Delicate Treats: Figs are quite fragile and don’t last long. They can be kept at room temperature for only one to two days and about five days in the refrigerator. To avoid bruising, store figs side by side, rather than stacking them on top of each other.
