Toot – Persian Marzipan Mulberry شیرینی توت is served

on Nowrooz day and persian weddings.

Toot is a vegan, gluten free, and no-bake treat.

Toot means mulberry in Farsi.

Use different food color or saffron to pep up your Toot.

The Name of this Persian marzipan candy is based on its shape,

which is similar to mulberry fruits.

The recipe is easy to make, and it’s an eye-catcher on the Haft Sin.

Did you know that marzipan comes from Persian?

In Iran, it was known as a harem confection and was also used as a medical remedy.

INGREDIENTS FOR TOOT

250 g almond slivers

125 g caster sugar

2 tbsp rose water

1/4 tsp ground cardamom

100 g sugar

30 pistachio slivers

food color (optional)

PREPARATION TOOT

Mix almond slivers and caster sugar in a blender until crushed.

Add rose water and mix.

Form small balls and bring them into a mulberry shape.

Roll in sugar.

Stick pistachio sticks into the pastry to use as a stem.

If you want colorful marzipan mulberry, add some food color.

Store in a tin box.
