The atmosphere in Frankfurt is electric today. It’s that one day of the year when the culinary world collectively holds its breath: the Michelin Star reveal is just hours away. But before the corks pop for tonight’s new star winners, a different kind of magic took hold at Sterne über Frankfurt – Michelin Warm-Up at Moriki.
Hosted by FrischeParadies Frankfurt, this get-together took place at Moriki—a venue that embodies urban luxury and effortless elegance like no other. It was a gathering of foodies, experts, press, bloggers, and the inner circle of the fine dining scene. A moment to pause and celebrate together before the grand gala takes over the city. This lunch proved one thing: true magic happens when world-class ingredients meet passion and great company.
FRISCHEPARADIES – WHERE TASTE BEGINS
When FrischeParadies calls, you know you’re in for a treat. In Germany, they are the gold standard for delicacy markets and the top supplier for Michelin-starred chefs. Quality isn’t just a buzzword here; it’s the foundation. With their deep expertise and love for premium produce, they created the perfect setting for this event. It was a celebration where the product was the star, honoring the craft behind every bite.
MORIKI – URBAN CHIC MEETS THE DUC NGO
The “place to be” for our warm-up was Moriki, and let’s be honest—the location is a total statement. Tucked right into the iconic Deutsche Bank towers with the Old Opera (Alte Oper) at its back, the restaurant breathes the spirit of Frankfurt. Even the name itself is a program, revealing the deep-rooted philosophy of the house: »Mori« is the Japanese word for forest, while »ki« signifies universal life energy. You can feel this symbiosis of grounding nature and pulsating vibrancy in every single detail. It is the brainchild of celebrity restaurateur The Duc Ngo, the visionary behind Berlin’s legendary 893, who masters Pan-Asian fusion like no one else.
Moriki captivates with a timeless, modern aesthetic. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls invite the city’s energy inside, while natural materials create a sense of calm and elegance. It’s so stylish that the New York Times famously called it “the place to go in Frankfurt.” The highlight? The large terrace with its lounge vibe overlooking the greenery of the Taunusanlage. It’s the ultimate urban hotspot.
OYSTERS, BUBBLES & HIGH-END SUSHI
The event started with a bang. We kicked things off with exquisite Tsarskaya Saint Kerber Oysters, their delicate briny notes pairing perfectly with chilled bubbles from Champagne Boizel. While the excitement for the evening gala grew, the Moriki team spoiled us with a spread that left nothing to be desired:
Premium Sushi Platters: An artistic selection of melt-in-your-mouth tuna and salmon.
Warm Delights: Perfectly seared Tori Gyoza (chicken & vegetable dumplings with ponzu) and scallops cooked to perfection.
MY CULINARY HIGHLIGHT
What made this lunch truly stand out was the interplay of flavors. The Seabream, elevated with fresh yuzu and the earthy depth of truffle, was a revelation. And who would have thought a spinach salad could steal the show? The Horenso Truffle Salad (spinach, truffle, miso vinaigrette) was so addictive and intense that it almost made me forget the buttery lobster waiting on the side. This is the power of high-end ingredients met with a bold culinary signature.
MY CONCLUSIONS
What stays with me after this lunch? The feeling that Frankfurt is playing in the absolute Champions League of gastronomy. When FrischeParadies sets the stage and Moriki delivers the culinary fireworks, it’s more than a meal—it’s an experience.
Between the clinking of champagne glasses and the last piece of sashimi, it became clear: true hospitality and uncompromising quality turn an ordinary day into a celebration.
