Majoon - Date Ice Cream Shake with Nuts معجون

Do you also prefer only to eat ice cream in the heat? Well, today I have a perfect healthy ice cream recipe for you. My ice-cooled Majoon – date ice cream shake with nuts معجون is a great way to cool down not only during the summer. Majoon means a “combination of products”, as it contains many different ingredients. Dates provide a natural sweetness, ripe bananas, vanilla ice cream and cream make the ice cream creamy, and the nuts in and on the ice cream as topping add crunch. I used walnuts, pistachios, almonds, and cashews. Finally, garnish with some date syrup and Majoon is a sweet, tasty, and also healthy snack for between meals!

MAJOON – DATE ICE CREAM SHAKE WITH NUTS معجون

Majoon was developed in Iran for athletes. As a fitness smoothie or shake, it was eaten for breakfast or after a workout. Even today it is used as a healthy snack in between meals. There are many different versions of Majoon, my favorite one is with nuts. The original uses 7 different nuts in Majoon. I prefer to use four different nuts. You can, of course, just use a combination of your favorite nuts. For an even healthier version, you can also omit the ice cream and cream and replace it with nut milk. My recipe for Majoon is quick to make, so start mixing and in five minutes you can start spooning.

HEALTHY DATES

I almost never eat sugar. But when I do sometimes get a craving for sweets, I prefer to grab dates. Dates are rich and keep you full for a long time, a real energy booster. Guaranteed they will get you energized. I use the fresh dates from Bam, a city in Persia, as they are much creamier than regular dates. You can, of course, use any other type of date. INGREDIENTS MAJOON

2 large or 4 small portions

750 g vanilla ice cream*

1 packet Persian cream or double cream*, cold

1 ripe banana, cold

4 tablespoons pistachios*, cold

4 tablespoons walnuts*, cold

2 tbsp. cashew nuts*, cold

2 tbsp. almonds*, cold

12 dates*

TOPPING

1 tsp pistachios*

1 tsp walnuts*

1 tsp cashew nuts*

1 tsp almonds*

2 tbsp. date syrup*

PREPARATION MAJOON

Majoon tastes at its best when all ingredients are used cold from the refrigerator.

Peel cold banana and cut into large pieces.

Place dates in hot water for 10 minutes, this makes it easier to peel off the skin. Then pit dates and remove peel.

Place in a high-powered blender with the other ingredients, except those for the topping, and blend until fine. Pour into Two Large* or Four Small Pretty Glasses*, garnish with the nuts and date syrup. This shake should be prepared fresh and served immediately!

  • 750 g vanilla ice cream
  • 1 Pack Persian Cream or double Cream cold
  • 1 ripe banana cold

  • 2 tbsp cashew nuts cold

  • 12 dates

  • 1 tsp almonds
  • 2 tbsp date syrup

Instructions
